The scaffold erector and dismantler is the person who physically builds the scaffold and takes it down. This is the foundation course of the IES scaffolding suite. It teaches you to recognise the parts and reject bad ones, prepare a sound base, erect in the correct sequence with ties, bracing, platforms and edge protection, access and work at height safely, handle materials without dropping them, and dismantle top-down — the reverse of erection. It also teaches your limits: what you may do, and when to stop and call the supervisor. Framework: OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L, the Construction Safety Manual (CSM) and SASO.
