Confined Space Rescue and Retrieval — Competency and Certification Course
The Confined Space Rescuer is a trained, equipped member of the team that recovers a casualty from a confined space without adding a second victim. This course covers the rescuer's role and team structure, why confined space rescue kills so many rescuers, rescue planning and the permit, the hierarchy of self, non-entry and entry rescue, respiratory protection with SCBA and SABA, retrieval systems including tripods, winches and mechanical advantage, casualty packaging and handling, continuous atmospheric monitoring during rescue, the controlled entry rescue procedure with a standby rescuer, casualty care and airway priority, and post-rescue decontamination, equipment service and debrief. Frameworks: OSHA 1910.146 rescue provisions, NFPA 1006/1670 technical rescue principles, and site confined space rescue practice. This is education and does not replace supervised practical rescue training and drills.
