Lifting Supervisor

The Lifting Supervisor controls and supervises the lifting operation on site, making sure it is carried out safely and exactly to the plan produced by the Appointed Person. The Lifting Supervisor sits above the riggers and the crane operator and below the Appointed Person: the Appointed Person plans the lift, and the Lifting Supervisor runs it. This detailed course covers the role and its legal duties, the lifting team and competence, understanding and checking the lift plan, risk assessment, permits and isolations, verifying the crane and rigging gear, ground and set-up, the pre-lift briefing, reading load charts, standard versus critical lifts, tandem and multi-crane supervision, environmental limits, controlling exclusion zones and communication, supervising the sequence, coordinating trades and simultaneous operations, managing change and the authority to stop, emergency and rescue arrangements, incident learning, and records and handover.
