The Fire Watcher is the dedicated person who guards hot work against fire. This course covers the role and authority of the Fire Watcher, the fire triangle and how hot-work fires start, hot work hazards and spark travel, the hot-work permit, preparing and inspecting the area, fire watch equipment, watching during the work, gas testing for flammable atmospheres, the critical post-work fire watch, using a portable extinguisher with the PASS technique, raising the alarm, and hot work in confined spaces and special locations. Framework: OSHA 1910.252, NFPA 51B, and site hot-work permit practice.
